You may be wondering, what happened to that Anomos project? Fear not! We have been hard at work here in the Anomos bunker and have made some good headway. We learned a lot from our beta release and have been making improvements based on our findings. Big changes have been made in the recurrent connection handling and messaging systems, and this will introduce more stability and privacy.
The most interesting thing we’ve been working on is the complete 20-page Anomos protocol specification, which will allow other developers to create their own Anomos clients and trackers, and to add Anomos compatibility to existing BitTorrent software.
I’m not going to give an exact date release date right now, but we’re hoping it will be as soon as possible. For those of you who can’t wait for an official release and want to take a peak at some of the technical details of the project, take a look in the testing branch of the git repositories to see the current work.

why not work to implement Kademlia or DHT?
Then doesnt needs more trackers.
And it will Anomos using lots of easyer.
It doesnt understand why goes Development only with Tracker idea.
DHT or Kademlia based Anomos will be make lots of more sence then Tracker based Anonymous Bittorrent.
why tracker idea??
cause it´s solve the problem of the long initalization-time of anonymous p2p. when you try any other ap2p solution, you know what i mean.
I know this might be a little late and I don’t know how this stuff is really going to work but I have an idea, or request maybe. Make the ratio (upload download reports) uncheatable, or close to. This would make the private trackers LOVE anomos and start using it overnight, no kidding. It would improve speed at trackers that enforce a policy and I think private trackers would be kind of scared to use a anonymous alternative like anomos because it could actually make cheating easier since can’t even check who got what IP address.
So how could this be done? I dunno. But I got an idea, draft, or whatever. Make every client send info to the tracker saying who uploaded/downloaded what, obviously not by identification them with their IP address but with some kind of ID. Then the tracker needs to do some magic stuff with all these numbers to figure out if someone is ghost leeching (downloading without reporting stats) or sending fake stats and figure out who… but NEVER make false positives or it would be useless and do more harm than good!
Anyway, what I’m saying is that with reliable transfer statistics this would not just be another anonymous p2p, it would truly be BitTorrent 2.0 because the private trackers where all the tech people is at will start using it and then it’s just a matter of time before it goes mainsteam, just like .rar from the scene and µTorrent that quickly took over private trackers because of its superiority and is now the most used client by far.
Think about it! It would be awesome if this project really succeeded and it would improve the quality of p2p so much if only stats were reliable.
“I think private trackers would be kind of scared to use a anonymous alternative like anomos because it could actually make cheating easier since can’t even check who got what IP address.”
Actually, with Anomos the tracker is the only one who knows your IP. So they could track your ratio/cheating. But almost all trackers use passcodes, not IPs to track ratio anyways.
Would it be practical to run the tracker as a TOR hidden service? Or would that possibly overload the TOR network?
xANTIx: Alright, but then it would be just as prone to cheating as BT already is, right? Since this is a new protocol this is a great chance to make the techy tracker community a lot better and make them all make the switch. It would be very beneficial to both the communities and anomos.
Any updates?
Almost 2 month passed by without an update. Is this project still on schedule?
no update?
Anything?? are you guys still alive?
